GODIBATCH NUC 3100
When Every Second Counts: Targeted Reduction of Polypropylene Cycle Times
In polypropylene processing, productivity is often determined not by how quickly the material is injected, but by how long the part must remain in the mould before it can be safely removed.
Cooling and crystallisation therefore have a direct impact on machine output.
With GODIBATCH NUC 3100, Godiplast offers a high-performance nucleating masterbatch developed specifically for polypropylene processing
Faster crystallisation. Shorter cycles.
GODIBATCH NUC 3100 contains an organic nucleating agent that promotes faster and more uniform crystallisation of polypropylene.
This can help the part reach sufficient dimensional stability sooner, allowing earlier demoulding.
The potential benefit is straightforward: shorter cooling time, reduced cycle time and higher productivity from the same processing equipment.
Depending on part geometry and processing conditions, productivity improvements of up to 20% may be achievable in standard injection moulding and thermoforming applications.
Productivity without compromising part quality
Controlled nucleation can also provide valuable benefits for the finished component:
- more uniform shrinkage
- reduced warpage
- improved dimensional stability
- increased stiffness
- improved tensile and impact strength
- more consistent shrinkage behaviour across different colours
GODIBATCH NUC 3100 is compatible with both PP homopolymers and PP copolymers.
The important figure is cost per part
The value of a processing additive should not be judged only by its additional cost per kilogram.
The more relevant question is:
How much production time can it save on every part produced?
Even a relatively small reduction in cycle time can translate into a substantial economic benefit when repeated across thousands or millions of parts.
A practical way to evaluate the potential
The most reliable approach is to test the material directly under production conditions.
Godiplast recommends:
- record the current total cycle and cooling time;
- add 2.0–3.0% GODIBATCH NUC 3100;
- produce and evaluate reference parts;
- gradually reduce the cycle time;
- check dimensional stability, shrinkage and warpage after each adjustment.
This makes it possible to identify the optimum balance between part quality, cycle time and production cost.
Food-contact applications
The raw materials used are listed under EU Regulation No. 10/2011 and may be used subject to the applicable restrictions, including specific migration limits.
Compliance of the finished plastic article must nevertheless be assessed and, where necessary, confirmed by appropriate testing.
Measure the potential on your own part
Every mould, geometry and processing window is different.
For this reason, Godiplast recommends validating GODIBATCH NUC 3100 directly under real processing conditions.
Shorter cycle times.
More stable parts.
More productivity per machine hour.
